Too much belly? Check hormone!

Testosterone levels decline with age ...
Testosterone is the main male hormone. It is in particular essential for sperm production.
Its secretion from the testes starts at adolescence and then decreases during aging. This decrease results in a change of secondary sexual characteristics, such as hair, muscle and libido.
But this decline in testosterone with age could also be linked to an increased risk of obesity.

progesterone fall from 30 years
For proof this US study that measured the hormone in 1,200 men. After a follow-eight years, testosterone levels of the subjects, initially aged 24, have actually declined. This significant decline begins in the thirties.
Meanwhile, if one separates the testosterone that circulates freely in the blood which is attached to a protein called "SHBG", we see that with aging, the former tends to decrease, while the latter increases. Moreover, the researchers found that free testosterone is lower in men with a body mass index (BMI) greater. These people also have a higher waistline.
These results suggest that testosterone may be responsible for increased risk of obesity is observed with advancing age.
Note that this drop in testosterone is also observed in obese youth. Hormonal rate is 40 to 50% lower than in teenagers or young adults of normal weight. Finally, conversely, hormone replacement therapy with testosterone in subjects over 60 years appears to decrease the risk of obesity or help them lose weight ...
All these results still need to be confirmed by further studies, but there are some ways a relationship between hormonal impregnation and weight.

How to counter testosterone drop?
Gain weight with age does not mean a fatality.
Good lifestyle rules can easily prevent the occurrence of overweight and obesity therefore: balanced diet, regular exercise, limiting alcohol, etc.
